More about me
I was born in Europe. Spent most of my childhood in Sweden before moving to Montreal, Quebec.
I've always been very good in French and I loved teaching others learn French, so after obtaining my degree, I started teaching high school French in Vancouver, BC.
I soon learned that although I enjoyed teaching in a classroom setting, I particularly enjoyed helping students during my office hours. Office hours give students the opportunity to ask in-depth questions and to explore points of confusion or interest that cannot be fully addressed in class. I loved being asked questions and helping teaching students who wanted to be taught then witnessing an aha moment on their faces when they finally understood a notion that they initially didn't. I wanted to recreate this type of setting and make a living out of it as a Private Tutor.
So I went back to school, received my business diploma and branched out on my own to start ALEX TUTORS FRENCH.
I now help students across the country and the world from the convenience of their own homes. I love working with my students one-on-one to help them understand French a little bit better each day and to watch their confidence in themselves grow.
My Tutoring Philosophy
Learn
At ALEX TUTORS FRENCH, I provide a calm and creative learning environment which allows each student to learn at their own pace while feeling comfortable, engaged and motivated. They benefit from my modified tutoring sessions, designed to suit students of all ages and abilities.
Grow
I witness a student’s willingness to be vulnerable and make mistakes. I walk alongside them in that tender place where learning and development happen. The acquisition of knowledge is great, but what I relish is the increase in self-confidence and self-efficacy, and the growth in a willingness to try.
Succeed
The students that I support gain confidence and understanding with progressive tuition that helps them reach their fullest potential. They appreciate my love of learning and by investing in their own personal and academic successes; they see that it can be fun too!
